The word that is translated here as "worldliness" is terrenismo in the original Spanish. This word does not appear in any dictionary that I consulted (including that of the Real Academia Española) and is, as far as I can tell, a term coined by Gómez Dávila. It comes from the word terrenal, which means "of this earth," and which is defined in opposition to what is of heaven.
