Just to give an example of how Gomez Davila refined his aphorisms over the years, here's the earliest version of this particular aphorism as it appeared in Notas (p. 158 of the Villegas Editores edition) at the end of an extended reflection on the character of the reformer and the revolutionary:

    "[A]ll intolerance of injustice which does not culminate in sanctity only succeeds in agitating the world."
