  2. I should add that the Spanish word that I translated here as "technology" is técnica, rather than tecnología. I suspect, though I cannot confirm, that Gómez Dávila's use of the word técnica is similar to Heidegger's use of the German word Technik, rather than Technologie.

    The French writer Jacques Ellul also spoke of la technique, rather than la technologie. La technique, though, is usually translated into English as "technology." Whether Gómez Dávila was influenced by Ellul or was even aware of him, I have no idea.
